Oil Minister Basem Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi opened today, Tuesday, the work of the fourth international exhibition and conference of Iraq for oil, gas, and oil projects, along with licensing rounds.

In a speech during the opening, which was followed by the Video News Agency, Al-Abadi stated that the oil sector is going through an important phase that has imposed significant challenges on Iraq, but at the same time has opened up new opportunities for development. He pointed out that "the government has succeeded in increasing oil exports from 200,000 barrels per day to more than 3 million barrels per day during the current month of September within the first 100 days."

Al-Abadi clarified that the ministry has worked on diversifying export outlets through signing the Iraqi-Turkish agreement to reactivate the northern outlet, in addition to proceeding with strategic projects with a coalition of companies (Chevron and TI from the United States and UCC from Qatar) to connect Basra with Fishkhabour and the Syrian Banyas, noting that "important agreements were signed during the visit to Washington to develop fields and exploratory blocks."

Al-Abadi added that the ministry has prioritized the refining sector to reduce the import of petroleum products and succeeded in convincing the Japanese company JGC to resume work on the FCC project at the southern refineries, affirming that "Iraq has wide investment opportunities and is keen on building sustainable investment partnerships that preserve the country's wealth."
