The National Wisdom Movement, led by Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, expressed its concern today, Saturday, about the repercussions of the restrictions imposed on air travel to and from Iran, and the impacts it has on the movement of citizens and mutual interests between the two countries.
The movement's spokesperson, Hosam al-Husseini, stated in a statement received by "Video News Agency" that the restrictions on air travel particularly affect visits to holy shrines in both countries, which represent an important aspect of popular communication between Iraq and Iran.
Al-Husseini confirmed that Iraqi-Iranian relations are “important and strong,” based on neighborhood, interests, and wide commonalities, urging the Iraqi government to intensify its efforts and diplomatic contacts to find solutions to this issue, in a manner that preserves Iraq's sovereignty, commitments, and interests.
He pointed out that Iraq is keen on establishing balanced relations with its regional and international surroundings, emphasizing the necessity of Iraq not being drawn into any path that would besiege the Iranian people or harm the interests of the neighboring peoples.
