The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, and the Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, discussed the current developments in the region and exchanged views on them during a phone call on Sunday evening.
During this call, Araghchi expressed his concern about the escalation of tensions and emphasized that persistent reliance on a military approach and ignoring a political solution will complicate the situation further in the region. The Iranian Foreign Minister also asserted that there is no military solution to the existing crises in the region and stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide any possible assistance to help initiate dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and to contribute to reaching a political solution.
Araghchi stressed that the existing crises in the region cannot be resolved militarily, reaffirming Tehran's support for efforts aimed at achieving a political solution.
This came amid ongoing escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen through Saudi strikes on Yemeni civilian and military sites and targeting King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh, which resulted in casualties and material damage.
