The International Aquatics Federation has assigned Ayad Mushir Jassim, a member of the Executive Committee of the International Federation, to manage the affairs of the Iraqi Aquatics Federation during the period of temporary suspension imposed on Khalid Abdul Wahid Kabbian.

A letter issued by the office of the Executive Director of the International Federation on October 20, 2026, which was reviewed by the "Video News Agency," stated that the federation will direct all official correspondence related to the Iraqi federation to Jassim throughout the suspension period, in addition to his responsibility for managing matters related to the Iraqi Aquatics Federation.

The International Federation requested Jassim to inform the other members of the Executive Committee of the Iraqi Federation about the content of the decision and the administrative arrangements resulting from it as soon as possible, stressing the necessity of adhering to the specified deadlines for participant registration in its championships.

In this context, the International Federation set November 10, 2026, as the final date for registering participants in the World Aquatics Championships (25 meters), scheduled to be held in the Chinese capital Beijing..

These actions are part of the arrangements announced by the International Federation to manage the affairs of the Iraqi Aquatics Federation throughout the period of temporary suspension.

The Iraqi Olympic Committee decided last August to strip Khalid Abdul Wahid Kabbian of his sports positions following the judicial ruling against him issued last June, which included a one-year prison sentence with a suspended sentence.

In June, the Karkh Criminal Court issued a one-year prison sentence against the former advisor to the Prime Minister, Khalid Kabbian, after convicting him of causing damage to public funds.
