Deputy Mohammed Abu Al-Ais directed criticism today, Thursday, at Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi, demanding the swift submission of the salary scale law to the House of Representatives for a vote and to end the delay surrounding the law despite repeated calls for its approval.
Abu Al-Ais stated in a statement followed by the Video News Agency, "The people's representatives face difficulties in meeting the Prime Minister due to his ongoing engagements and foreign trips, which has led us to convey the citizens' voices through the media," indicating that "there are essential laws awaited by the Iraqi street that remain stalled in the corridors of the Prime Minister's office without resolution."
He added, "The salary scale law represents a general public demand and a fundamental step toward achieving social justice among state employees, especially in light of the decline in the purchasing power of the Iraqi dinar and the rising prices and waves of inflation that have burdened those with limited income."
Abu Al-Ais questioned how officials could accept that their families live on a monthly or weekly budget not exceeding 170,000 dinars, referring to the living conditions faced by employees in lower job grades, including sanitation workers and municipal staff.
He emphasized that officials derive their legitimacy from the citizens' votes, which compels them to respond to their demands and improve their living conditions, calling on Al-Zaydi to move beyond governmental engagements and urgently forward the law to the House of Representatives to achieve justice for a wide segment of employees.
He also called for moving forward with other entitlements related to the fair treatment of segments that have made sacrifices, stressing the necessity of not neglecting their rights.
