The American Automobile Association announced today, Friday, a new record high for diesel prices in the United States, reaching $5.85 per gallon, amid disruptions in energy markets caused by the American war on Iran.

According to data from the association reviewed by "Video News Agency," the price per gallon rose by $2.14 compared to a year ago, when it was $3.71, representing an annual increase of nearly 58 percent.

The rise in diesel prices is particularly significant considering its widespread use in vital sectors of the American economy, including road transport, agriculture, and construction.

The United States is facing increasing pressure due to rising fuel prices, in light of the oil supply disruptions associated with the war with Iran.

Last Tuesday, President Donald Trump summoned officials from refining companies and fuel distributors to the White House to discuss ways to lower gasoline and diesel prices, after the average gasoline price in the United States surpassed $4 per gallon in August, an increase of nearly 30% from last year, while the diesel price approached $5.80 per gallon.

According to an analysis by Brown University, Americans have paid an additional $51.9 billion for gasoline and an additional $43.1 billion for diesel since the conflict began in late February, compared to what they would have paid if prices had remained at pre-war levels.

It is worth noting that Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref warned Americans yesterday, Thursday, of economic repercussions he described as "serious," urging them to stock up on gasoline and fuel, and confirming that "dark months" await the American economy.
