The Supreme Judicial Council directed today, Sunday, to take legal action against those who incite sectarian strife.
The council stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that "the specialized investigation courts and public prosecution members have been instructed to monitor cases where some individuals use sectarian terms and phrases in the media and social media to incite discord and community division for political or personal interests, and to take legal action against them in accordance with the law".
The statement pointed out that "the meeting of the State Administration Coalition held yesterday, Saturday, on 5/9/2026, with the attendance of the four presidencies and political leaders in the country affirmed the rejection of the sectarian discourse promoted by some and called for punishing those who adopt it for violating the constitution and the law".
