The Border Forces Command denied, on Sunday, the crossing of a group of Syrians over the security barrier on the border strip.
The command stated, in a statement received by the News Video Agency, that "some social media sites circulated a clip titled 'A group of Syrians crossing the security barrier on the Iraqi-Syrian border,' which included inaccurate information."
It added that "the clip is not related to the Iraqi-Syrian border, and that the concrete wall shown in it belongs to the fortifications established on the Turkish-Syrian border strip."
The command confirmed, according to the statement, that "the Iraqi-Syrian border is witnessing significant security stability, thanks to a comprehensive system of fortifications, barriers, technical monitoring, and thermal cameras, along with continuous deployment and patrols."
The Border Command called "not to exploit the border issue to gain views by publishing old clips or footage taken from other areas and attributing them to the Iraqi border, as this causes misleading of public opinion."
The command reiterated its assurance that "the Iraqi borders are safeguarded, and its forces continue to perform their duties with vigilance and professionalism to protect Iraq's security and sovereignty and to prevent any attempt to infiltrate or breach its international borders."
