The Media and Communications Authority announced today, Sunday, the expansion of closure procedures for Korek's offices to include Kirkuk, Nineveh, and Salah al-Din.
The authority said in a statement received by the video news agency that it "continued its field procedures related to Korek Telecom, as the Authority's office in the northern region, in coordination with the National Security Agency, carried out field tours in the provinces of Kirkuk, Nineveh, and Salah al-Din, resulting in the closure of the company's offices and centers."
It added that "these measures came as an extension of the tours carried out by the Authority's teams during the recent period in Baghdad, Karbala, Najaf, Diwaniya, Babil, and other provinces, as part of the follow-up to the implementation of decisions and regulatory measures taken regarding Korek Telecom."
It confirmed that "the closure procedures in Kirkuk province included the company's offices and centers in the Al-Mas area, Republic Street, and Al-Muhafadha Street, while in Nineveh province, it included several sites on both sides of the city of Mosul," explaining that "the sites included on the left side of Mosul comprised the Al-Nour neighborhood, the Cultural Group area, and Soomra, while on the right side, it included the Al-Mosul Al-Jadida and Al-Dawasa areas, in addition to the implementation of closure procedures in Salah al-Din province."
It emphasized that "the field follow-up operations come within the framework of unified implementation of the measures taken regarding the company in various provinces, in coordination with security services and relevant authorities, according to the approved legal and regulatory frameworks," stressing "the continuation of its teams and offices in the provinces to follow up on the implementation of the stipulated procedures, ensuring the consistent application of regulatory decisions on the company's affiliated sites and centers."
