The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Sunday, the arrest of an official at the Baiji Municipality Directorate in Salah al-Din province caught red-handed while receiving a bribe from a citizen in exchange for neglecting his job duties.
The commission stated in a statement received by the "Video News Agency" that it " acted on the basis of a complaint submitted by a citizen, who reported that he was subjected to extortion by the head of the Urban Planning Department at the Baiji Municipality Directorate, who requested a sum of money from him in return for organizing a letter addressed to the first subcommittee for compensating the victims in the province."
It added that "a team from the Salah al-Din Investigation Office began investigating and verifying the information contained in the complaint, and after obtaining a judicial memorandum, a tight trap was set, which resulted in the arrest of the accused red-handed immediately after receiving the agreed-upon bribe amount from the complainant, and the amount was seized in his possession."
It pointed out that it "prepared a formal record of the operation and presented it alongside the accused and the seized items to the competent Salah al-Din Investigation Court judge overseeing integrity cases, who decided to detain the accused in accordance with the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983)."
