The prices of Iraqi and foreign gold registered stability today, Saturday, in the local markets of Baghdad and in the Erbil province, coinciding with varying exchange rates at the start of morning trading.
A correspondent for the Video News Agency stated that the prices of gold in the wholesale markets on Al-Nahr Street in Baghdad recorded a selling price for one mithqal of 21-carat gold from the Gulf, Turkish, and European sources at 970,000 dinars, while the buying price was 966,000 dinars, which are the same prices recorded last Thursday.
The agency's correspondent indicated that the selling price for one mithqal of 21-carat Iraqi gold was 940,000 dinars, and the buying price reached 936,000 dinars.
As for gold prices in jewelry stores, the selling price for one mithqal of 21-carat Gulf gold ranged between 970,000 and 980,000 dinars, while the selling price for one mithqal of Iraqi gold ranged between 940,000 and 950,000 dinars.
The gold prices in Erbil also showed stability, where the price of 22-carat gold reached 1,004,000 dinars, the selling price for 21-carat gold was 960,000 dinars, and the selling price for 18-carat gold was 822,000 dinars.
This relative stability in the prices of the precious metal comes in conjunction with a similar stability in the exchange rates of the US dollar this morning; where the Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya exchanges in Baghdad recorded 154,650 Iraqi dinars for every 100 dollars, the same prices recorded last Thursday.
It is worth mentioning that the price of 21-carat gold in the Iraqi markets had exceeded the threshold of one million dinars for one mithqal for the first time in its history during January of last year, due to the local pricing equation that is positively correlated with the global price of the ounce and the rates of foreign currency exchange in the parallel markets.
