The Ministry of Oil denied today, Saturday, what some media outlets and agencies have circulated regarding its intention to export gasoline immediately after the startup of the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) unit, emphasizing that the interim goal is to achieve self-sufficiency first.
The media and government communications office of the ministry stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the spokesperson denied the statements attributed to him regarding the immediate export of gasoline, clarifying that what he mentioned in a television interview focused on Iraq reaching self-sufficiency in petroleum products upon the startup of the FCC unit.
The statement added that the transition to exporting some petroleum products in the future is linked to the completion of expansion work at other refineries, which the ministry is working to achieve as part of its strategic plans to transition from an importing country to an exporting one.
The statement noted that Iraq is currently exporting fuel oil and naphtha, in addition to previous shipments of jet fuel and sulfur, urging media outlets to exercise accuracy and convey statements within their precise contexts without distortion.
