The Iranian novelist and short story writer Mostafa Moos تور emphasized that the triumph of life and human happiness takes precedence over all achievements in literature and art, urging young people to discover their passions early and confidently pursue their dreams.
During a seminar held on the sidelines of the Baghdad International Book Fair, attended by a reporter from the Video News Agency, Moos تور stated that literature represents only a limited part of the vast and complex reality of life, affirming that if faced with a choice between art and life, he would choose life without hesitation.
He explained that he prefers people to live in safety and peace away from tragedies than for the greatest artistic works to be produced at the expense of the lives and suffering of victims, citing the tragedies humanity has witnessed during major wars, especially World War II.
Regarding the ability of literature and art to influence the lives of recipients, Moos تور told (WAA) that he belongs to a current of writers who believe that the impact of literature and art on changing people's lives is extremely limited, if not marginal.
He expressed his astonishment at claims that assert a person's life path can change radically simply by reading a novel or listening to a piece of music, considering such assertions to be within the realm of flattery or exaggeration.
Moos تور recalled aspects of his personal journey, speaking about his transition from studying civil engineering and working in the field to focusing on literary writing, noting that he spent about 25 years balancing both fields.
He described his relationship with engineering and literature symbolically, comparing engineering to a "wife" and literature to a "beloved," referring to his attachment to both fields before deciding in favor of writing.
In conclusion, he sent a message to young people and those passionate about literature, urging them not to waste long years in fields that do not align with their true passions, and to work early on discovering their talents and steering towards the path through which they can realize their identities and creations.
