Judicial cooperation between Iraq and Slovenia leads to a 5-year prison sentence for a member of ISIS.

The National Center for International Judicial Cooperation announced today, Tuesday, that judicial cooperation and information exchange with the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the Republic of Slovenia through its office with the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) contributed to the prosecution of a member of ISIS terrorist groups and the issuance of a five-year prison sentence against him in accordance with applicable Slovenian laws.

The center stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that it received a request for legal assistance from the Public Prosecutor's Office in Slovenia regarding the convicted individual, where it initiated procedures for research and verification in the national database and compilation of available data, resulting in the confirmation of information related to his affiliation with ISIS terrorist groups.

The center confirmed its continued work through cooperation channels and its international partnerships to support efforts to prosecute ISIS members and those accused of serious and transnational crimes, thereby enhancing efforts to combat terrorism and contributing to achieving justice and reinforcing the principle of accountability.
