A knowledgeable parliamentary source revealed today, Saturday, to the news agency about moves led by deputies from the Coordination Framework to pressure the government and question Prime Minister Ali Al-Zidi regarding the reasons for the delay in sending the Popular Mobilization Law to the House of Representatives, despite its approval within the Cabinet.
The source stated that a number of deputies have called on the leadership of the Coordination Framework to include an urgent item on the agenda for the next meeting to discuss the reasons for the delay and to clarify the justifications for not referring the two laws to Parliament to complete the voting and ratification procedures.
He added that the deputies expressed their astonishment at the continued delay in sending the two laws, despite several weeks having passed since their governmental approval, noting that there are no political or technical obstacles, in their estimation, preventing the completion of the legislative procedures.
These moves come after the Cabinet voted by majority on the two laws during its twenty-first regular session, chaired by Ali Faleh Al-Zidi, on September 29, amid anticipation regarding the file's outcomes and the upcoming governmental steps regarding its referral to the House of Representatives.
