A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Wafa Muhammad Karim, revealed today, Saturday, that the meeting scheduled to be held between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government in the capital Baghdad to discuss the budget file has been postponed due to ongoing disputes over several financial items and failure to reach common understandings.
Karim stated in a statement followed by the Video News Agency that the meeting, which was supposed to take place today, was postponed due to the Kurdish delegation's objections to some of the clauses included in the budget file, indicating that these disagreements prevented it from being held as scheduled.
He added that several issues remain a point of contention between Baghdad and Erbil, primarily the share of the Kurdistan Region from the budget, which requires further discussions to reach common understandings regarding the outstanding financial issues.
The postponement of the meeting comes amid ongoing disagreements between the federal government and the regional government regarding financial entitlements, funding mechanisms, and the allocated share for the region in the budget, amid efforts to reach solutions that end the disputes between the two sides and ensure the resolution of the outstanding financial issues.
