Al-Zaydi opens the Baghdad Book Fair and emphasizes that the word is a weapon to confront ignorance and extremism.

Prime Minister Ali Falah Al-Zaydi inaugurated the 27th Baghdad International Book Fair today, Wednesday, with wide official and public attendance.

The media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that Al-Zaydi emphasized during the opening that Baghdad remains a beacon of culture, a lighthouse of thought, and a nurturing ground for the word, noting that books represent the weapon to confront ignorance and the tool to address extremism and preserve the identity.

The statement clarified that the Prime Minister pointed out that opening the fair's doors creates spaces for dialogue and opportunities for generations to instill a sense of belonging to a nation that reads, writes, and creates.

He noted that the Prime Minister toured the booths of participating Iraqi, Arab, and international publishing houses, reviewed their publications and titles, and praised the level of participation and the quality of the intellectual and cultural outputs on display.
