The lawyer of the Egyptian artist Mona Zaki has broken his silence to reveal the truth about what has recently circulated in the media and on social media regarding the legal crisis related to the seizure of her apartment and funds in light of a real estate dispute.
Samir Faseeh, the artist’s lawyer, issued a press statement clarifying that the beginning of the crisis dates back to Mona Zaki owning a residential apartment on Syria Street in the Mohandessin area of Giza, which was purchased from a real estate company.
He further stated that it was established in the fourth clause of the ownership contract that there is a registered mortgage in favor of the Egyptian Financial Bank against the selling company and not against the Egyptian star, with the company being committed to paying off this mortgage and relieving the artist of any obligations.
The lawyer indicated that on January 25, 2023, Mona Zaki sold the apartment for 5 million pounds, which is a price less than half of its market value at the time, taking into account that the property was mortgaged, and with the intention of goodwill to assist the buyer and obligate the company to settle its debts with the bank, as stipulated in the seventh clause of the sales contract.
The statement added that the artist was later surprised that the buyer settled the mortgage debt to the bank to lift the mortgage without consulting her or informing her, which harmed the ongoing negotiations to obligate the company to pay, noting that the buyer also filed a lawsuit demanding the amount he paid.
The lawyer pointed out that a default judgment was issued in May 2025 obligating the artist to pay 3 million and 630 thousand pounds, equivalent to nearly 71 thousand dollars, with the court rejecting requests for interest and compensation.
Meanwhile, he emphasized that Mona Zaki's defense team appealed the judgment, which was rejected, but they submitted another appeal, which is still pending before the Court of Cassation.
