The advisor to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, artist Hind Kamel, affirmed that reading represents an intellectual fortress that opens up future horizons for the youth. She also noted that books were her main guide to discovering life and its refuge towards creative and magical worlds, while calling for methods based on sharing with the new generation, far from the dictation approach.
Kamel stated in a press interview observed by the "News Video Agency" on the sidelines of her participation in the 27th Baghdad International Book Fair that "the book was my guide in understanding reality and has played a significant role in transporting me to vast worlds and spaces within the map of human imagination, compensating for the traditional life I did not live early due to my family commitments and the experience of fame at a young age."
She added that "the initial phase of awareness formation imposes central questions and intellectual mazes exploring the difference between the written text and lived reality. However, the continuous advancement of human knowledge is always rooted in the continuity of reading and the persistence in acquiring books."
Kamel emphasized the "importance of guiding the youth towards rigorous systematic readings under responsible educational and familial supervision, as reading plays a crucial role in maturing their intellectual perceptions, opening up future horizons, and exposing them to diverse experiences and cultures." She pointed out that "instilling civilized values and behaviors among youth requires a partnership and empowerment-based approach, while rejecting the language of condescending advice or ineffective guardianship."
