Justice Minister Khalid Shwani discussed today, Sunday, with National Security Agency Chief Bassem Al-Badri, enhancing cooperation and joint security coordination to protect and secure correctional institutions, contributing to increasing readiness levels and strengthening preventive measures inside prisons.
The Ministry of Justice stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that Shwani received Al-Badri at the ministry headquarters, where a joint meeting was held to discuss a number of files of mutual interest, particularly concerning the security of correctional institutions and the protection of inmates and staff.
The statement added that the meeting, which was attended by the Senior Undersecretary Ziad Al-Tamimi, the Director General of the Juvenile Rehabilitation Department Mohammed Radi Bahr, the Assistant Director General for Security Affairs Major General Haider, and the Director of the Security Intelligence Center at the Iraqi Rehabilitation Department Brigadier General Dhurgham, addressed ways to develop security coordination and information exchange with the security intelligence center.
The ministry indicated that strengthening cooperation between the two sides aims to raise the level of security readiness and develop preventive measures within correctional institutions, thereby enhancing the safety of prisons, inmates, and staff.
The Justice Minister emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation and coordination between the ministry and the National Security Agency on this matter, pointing out that the protection of correctional institutions is a fundamental pillar of the security system, due to its direct impact on protecting society and enhancing security and stability.
For his part, the National Security Agency Chief praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Justice to develop the reality of correctional institutions and its preventive measures, affirming the agency's commitment to continue coordination and cooperation with the ministry in the interest of the public good.
