U.S. President Donald Trump announced today, Saturday, his rejection of the Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, moving towards closing the door on calming tensions and beating the drums of military escalation by asserting that the United States has complete control over the strait.
Trump stated in remarks reviewed by the "Video News Agency" that 29 ships crossed the strait last night, claiming that huge amounts of oil pass through it.
He alleged that Iran wants to reopen the strait immediately due to its losses, pointing out that Tehran has put itself in a predicament by closing it, and that the United States has imposed the largest blockade in military history on it.
He added that Iran wants to reach an agreement, deluded that the United States has erected a steel wall around the Strait of Hormuz.
It is worth mentioning that Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian confirmed earlier today, Saturday, that the new plan proposed by Tehran to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz was developed "in coordination" with Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, noting that its implementation would face "no problems" if the United States agreed to the proposal.
Bezhakian stated in an interview with CBS network that "the coordination was made with the leader of the revolution, and if the United States agrees to the plan and fulfills its commitments, we will do the same, and there will be no problem in this regard."
He also revealed the formation of a team consisting of six members, including representatives from various organizations and bodies, including the military, parliament, and government, to follow up on issues related to the plan.
