The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Bezhakian, confirmed that the Iranian people love peace and strive for constructive interaction with the world, emphasizing that Iran defends its rights and interests within the framework of international laws and regulations, and will not succumb to force or impositions.
During the ceremony for receiving the credentials of the new Portuguese ambassador to Iran, "Walter Matias," on Tuesday, President Bezhakian expressed his hope for the development of relations between the two countries during the tenure of the new ambassador; considering that his presence in Iran is an opportunity to closely learn about the culture, civilization, and rich history of the Iranian people.
He pointed out that much of what is published by Western media about Iran and its people does not align with reality; affirming that the Iranian people love peace, but they have resisted acts of violence and crimes committed by some powers under the pretext of defending human rights.
He criticized the terrorism sponsored by some countries and the targeting of scholars, students, and political leaders in the region; noting that the perpetrators of these crimes simultaneously claim to combat terrorism. He urged the ambassador to convey a realistic image of Iran and work on enhancing bilateral relations in the scientific, cultural, economic, and political fields.
He stressed that Iran seeks peace and stability and rejects submission to force, defending its rights within the framework of international laws, and that respecting the rights of nations and justice and fairness prevents the outbreak of wars and conflicts.
