Zamalek Club announced through its social media accounts, which were followed by the News Video Agency, that it has filed a complaint to the Egyptian Football Association against the Referees Committee, due to what it described as "the injustice it suffered" during its match against Al Ahly.
The "White Knight" team had lost to its counterpart "Red Giant" with a score of two clean goals, at Cairo International Stadium, on Sunday, in the climax of the eighth round of the league.

Members of Zamalek Club objected during and after the match to the officiating crew, led by Slovenian referee Rade Obrenovic, as they believe they deserved a penalty kick in their favor in the 77th minute after player Chico Panza was fouled inside the box.
The "White Knight" team stated in its announcement: "The use of an unknown officiating crew far below the value of the match led to a series of decisions that were deliberately and blatantly directed against Zamalek, affecting the course and outcome of the match."
It added: "According to several refereeing experts, there were two unawarded penalty kicks for Zamalek, in addition to the lack of review for more than one play in favor of Zamalek using the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology."

The club pointed out that it "holds the main Referees Committee responsible for the loss, due to its being influenced by the campaign it faced before the start of the league, resulting in a lack of fairness and the committee deliberately favoring and accommodating one party at the expense of Zamalek," according to the statement.
The club expressed its "extreme dissatisfaction with the way the Referees Committee is currently managed, as evidenced by the Slovenian referee's errors in the big match," affirming: "Zamalek will not stand idly by and knows well how to protect the rights of the club and its fans."
It continued: "The club had previously confirmed its refusal to question the integrity of the refereeing system in general, and the club's stance has not changed towards the system as a whole, but there are those within the Referees Committee who need to reconsider their choices of referees and to be accountable so that fairness is the foundation of officiating in matches."
No response has been issued yet from the Egyptian Football Association, the Professional Clubs Association, or the Referees Committee regarding the "White Knight" team's statement.
