The First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly adopted three resolutions proposed by Pakistan today, Tuesday, concerning disarmament, arms limitation, and enhancing confidence-building measures at both regional and international levels.
The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that one of the resolutions, related to confidence-building measures in both regional and sub-regional contexts, was adopted without a vote, while the resolution on conventional arms limitation at both regional and sub-regional levels received support from 180 countries.
The ministry added that the third resolution, regarding providing security guarantees to non-nuclear weapon states, had previously been adopted by a majority of 122 votes, with no opposing votes recorded.
It clarified that the three resolutions focus on enhancing international cooperation mechanisms, reducing security risks, and reinforcing trust and stability, especially in light of rising tensions and challenges facing international efforts to limit armaments and promote regional and international security.
