Our youth team achieved an important victory today, Thursday, against their Emirati counterparts, with a score of two goals to one, in the match held between them at the Chonburi Stadium in Thailand, as part of the second round of the sixth group competitions for the qualifiers for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup.
The Emirati team took the lead through Yannick Muller, but Malik Mouammal equalized for Iraq before the end of the first half, and Sajad Hussein scored the leading goal for the Lions of Mesopotamia. The Emirati team also missed a penalty kick caused by Iraq's goalkeeper Ammar Ali, who then redeemed his mistake by saving Yannick Muller's shot.
The Iraqi team started their campaign in the qualifiers last Monday with a loss to the Turkmenistan team, with a score of 2-1.
The city of Chonburi hosts the group competitions from August 31 until the sixth of this month, with the participation of the teams from Iraq, Turkmenistan, the UAE, and the host team Thailand.
