José Mourinho, the head coach of Real Madrid, confirmed that his team did not deserve to lose against Real Betis, despite their defeat in the match that brought the two teams together in the third round of La Liga.
The Portuguese José Mourinho suffered his first defeat of the season during his second stint as coach of Real Madrid, in a match that saw him protesting against the referee and receiving his first yellow card.
Mourinho spoke about Real Madrid's performance, saying: "I think the team played a wonderful match; sometimes you lose without knowing why, it is inexplicable to have complete control over the flow of the game thanks to two strong center-backs who controlled everything, and with many attacks and several chances, if the match had ended in a draw, we would have felt frustrated, just imagine our feelings from the loss."
Mourinho addressed the changes he made during the match, emphasizing that they were not due to his dissatisfaction with the players' performance, saying: "The team has always performed well, Betis launched some counterattacks as usual, but the match was in favor of Real Madrid."
Regarding the performance of referee Hernández Hernández, Mourinho confirmed: "I don't know why I received a yellow card, but it wasn't bad. I got up because one of the Betis players seemed to be in a critical condition, but I can't comment on the penalty and the disallowed goal as I didn't see them and can't say anything."
