Iraqi journalist and media figure residing in Egypt, Tarek Al-Saud, inaugurated his first photography exhibition titled “Baghdadi Squares” at the French Institute in Baghdad, featuring 45 black and white photographs documenting the landmarks of the capital, its heritage buildings, and details of its historical architecture.
Al-Saud told the news agency that the idea of the exhibition is based on documenting the details of Baghdadi buildings and landmarks from different photographic angles, aiming to highlight the architectural beauties that may go unnoticed by passersby despite their daily presence.

He added that the exhibition includes 45 photos measuring (50×50) cm, chosen in a square shape which forms the basis for the exhibition's title, indicating that the project serves as a call to preserve Baghdad’s architectural heritage, restore buildings that have been affected by the passage of time, and take pride in the legacy of Baghdadi architecture.
Al-Saud explained that the main challenges he faced during the execution of the project included obtaining the necessary security approvals to photograph the buildings and alleys, as well as acquiring special permits to photograph historical sites, such as the Abbasid Palace and Al-Mustansiriya School, and paying fees for booking photography days when using professional cameras.

The exhibition opening was attended by a number of artists, media figures, and writers, in an evening celebrating the memory of Baghdad and its architectural details, highlighting the importance of documenting its civil and artistic heritage.
