Arab foreign ministers will convene in Cairo next Monday during the 166th session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level to discuss regional developments and several Arab issues.
The meeting will take place at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat, amidst rapid regional developments placing the Palestinian cause, Arab crises, and security challenges at the forefront of the discussion topics.
The Arab League Council will hold a preparatory meeting today, Saturday, at the level of permanent representatives, to prepare for the ministerial-level session, with discussions and recommendations to be forwarded to the foreign ministers.
This meeting comes at a time when the region faces interconnected challenges, starting with the ongoing repercussions of the war in Gaza, through political and security crises in several Arab countries, to the implications of the U.S.-Iranian war that casts shadows over the security of the region and international navigation.
The meeting is expected to witness consultations on ways to coordinate Arab positions regarding regional developments and support political and diplomatic efforts aimed at containing crises and maintaining the sovereignty of Arab states and their territorial integrity.
Tunis is presiding over the 166th session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, while member states continue to coordinate on the agenda of the meeting and the issues to be presented to the foreign ministers.
The ministerial meeting follows the completion of the 118th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council, which concluded its meetings in Cairo, reflecting the ongoing Arab collective movement on both economic and political levels.
The ministers are expected to conclude their meetings by approving a number of resolutions and positions regarding the discussed issues, as part of the Arab League's efforts to enhance Arab coordination and collective action in response to the developments in the region.
