Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed that the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which his country contributed to reaching and signing, is not being implemented on the ground, warning that failure to adhere to international commitments undermines peace prospects and fuels conflicts and hatred in the region.
Erdoğan's statements came during the opening of the tenth edition of the "TRT World" forum in Istanbul, coinciding with the revelation by the head of the Turkish intelligence agency, Ibrahim Kalın, of the details surrounding the stalled implementation of the agreement, despite mediation efforts made by Turkey in cooperation with Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.
Kalın explained that the agreement of October 10, 2025, which was reached in Sharm El Sheikh, aimed to stop military operations, release detainees and prisoners, and introduce between 500 and 600 trucks of aid daily, in preparation for Israeli withdrawal and the formation of a Palestinian administration for the sector, the deployment of an international security force, and the beginning of reconstruction.
However, the head of Turkish intelligence confirmed that most of these provisions have not been implemented, pointing out that more than 1,800 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the signing of the agreement, despite the return of all Israeli detainees, according to his statement.
