The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated today, Friday, the launch of new consultations between the member states of the Mecca Agreement and Iran in the upcoming phase, confirming that the agreement is defensive and does not target any country.
A spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry stated in a press statement that "a meeting took place in Tehran on October 26, with representatives from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Iran," describing it as "the first consultations of this kind," and pointing out that "the parties showed willingness to continue communication and engage in future consultations."

He added that "the Mecca Agreement includes three countries, and the decision to expand it lies with the member states," noting that "holding consultations in Tehran confirms that the agreement is of a defensive nature and does not target any country."

He clarified that "the agreement is still in the process of completing its arrangements, and its activation will be carried out through the relevant authorities after the Secretary-General begins his duties in the Saudi capital, Riyadh."

The spokesperson from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry did not specify a timeline for holding a new round of consultations or any official steps related to Iran's joining of the agreement.
